On the other hand, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has never been found to have engaged in similar conspiracy based activities or ruining someone else’s image or business for personal reputation. Instead, he has devoted majority of his time into development of his companies and the communities, philanthropic activities as well as working for the underprivileged sections of the society.

For the past ten years, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been fighting a case at the Lusaka High Court. This case is for the legal takeover of the Portland Cement Zambia factory, a noted cement-manufacturing factory which originally belongs to Dr. Rajan Mahtani. The reason behind long pendency of the case is majorly the limitations and shortcomings of the Zambian law and government. Some good news was announced a few months ago when the judge handling the Portland Cement Zambia case concluded the case hearing and requested both parties to submit evidences, based on which final judgment was to be announced.

However, the final judgment was shockingly made against Dr. Mahtani’s claims even though most of the documents submitted suggested otherwise. Dr. Mahtani has now filed an appeal to the higher court of Zambia.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a noted businessman in Zambia and is among few industrialists who are still known for his transparent and ethical business functions. Some of these evidences included signed shareholder’s agreement, financial exhibits and audit reports from independent auditor which clearly indicated that the Portland CementZambia factory was established as a joint venture entity and Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the real and legal joint venture partner. At the same time, the financial exhibits clearly showcased that Dr. Mahtani had investment more than USD 12 million worth of money into the growth and development of the factory. These evidences were clear enough to prove that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the legal owner of the factory.

However, the final judgment announced by the court was unexpected and unprecedented. It was given against Dr. Mahtani’s claims, even after submitting all those evidences which sufficiently proved Dr. Mahtani ownership over the factory. Not with standing this skewed judgment, Dr. Mahtani has now appealed to the higher court of Zambia. In his new appeal, Dr. Mahtani has shared all those evidences and has requested the higher court to look into this matter. Reply is awaited from the higher court as of now but Dr. Mahtani is hopeful of their judgment.

Lusaka High Court Shares New News for Portland Cement Zambia Case

The judge handling the Portland Cement Zambia case recently made an important announcement. As per the judge, the final hearing is closed and both parties have been asked to submit their testimonials and evidences in written and oral formats. The judge will be evaluating these documents and post evaluation, final judgement will be made. This step has been considered as a milestone for a corporate case which has been going on for the past 10 years without any results. 

Portland Cement Zambia is a cement manufacturing plant. It is legally owned by Dr. Rajan Mahtani, a noted businessman and philanthropist in Zambia. Dr. Mahtani has made a name for himself with his honest and transparent business activities, and is also famous for his charitable activities. During his leadership, Portland Cement was among the top manufacturers of cement in Zambia. The factory was also among the top industrial employers, with above-industry salary and wages for its workers and employees. However, things have changed since the factory’s illegal takeover by the Ventriglias. The factory was forcefully taken over by goons and the Ventriglias have defended themselves by saying that the shares of the factory owned by Dr. Mahtani are not paid for. However, they have not been able to share any strong evidence that supports their claim.
