Dr. Rajan Mahtani Takes Unprecedented Step, Moves To Higher Court After Court Verdict

During his more than three decades of stay in Zambia, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has seen numerous ups and downs. He is among the most successful and celebrated businessmen in Zambia. His successful businesses can be found not only in Zambia but also across many foreign nations. Some of his established businesses include Finsbury Investments, Mahtani Group of Companies and Finance Bank Zambia. Yet, he is also among the most conspired upon businessmen in Zambia with numerous individuals, groups and even companies constantly trying to ruin his reputation or business. On the other hand, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has never been found to have engaged in similar conspiracy based activities or ruining someone else’s image or business for personal reputation. Instead, he has devoted majority of his time into development of his companies and the communities, philanthropic activities as well as working for the underprivileged sections of the society.

For the past ten years, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been fighting a case at the Lusaka High Court. This case is for the legal takeover of the Portland Cement Zambia factory, a noted cement-manufacturing factory which originally belongs to Dr. Rajan Mahtani. The reason behind long pendency of the case is majorly the limitations and shortcomings of the Zambian law and government. Some good news was announced a few months ago when the judge handling the Portland Cement Zambia case concluded the case hearing and requested both parties to submit evidences, based on which final judgment was to be announced.

However, the final judgment was shockingly made against Dr. Mahtani’s claims even though most of the documents submitted suggested otherwise. Dr. Mahtani has now filed an appeal to the higher court of Zambia.
