Progress Made By Lusaka High Court In Zambezi Portland Case

Anyone following a path of honesty and integrity knows that it is not easy. Those who have achieved success with honest and dedicated work, have gone through many hardships. The same can be said for Dr. Rajan Mahtani who has set an example in a crime-ridden Zambia. He started his company from scratch and within no time was able to climb the ladder of success with his hard work. He is also among those few businessmen in Zambia who will not accept illegal activities under the table and also prevents himself from associating with those who do. As a result, he has developed many enemies during his lifetime, most of whom are either jealous or his achievement or are corrupted businessmen and politicians.

However, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is facing extreme difficulty is getting back what is rightfully his. The Zambezi Portland Cement, which was successfully run by him for a long time, was somehow illegally captured by the Ventriglias. When Dr. Mahtani approached the court, the Ventriglias counter-claimed by saying that the Zambezi Portland shares held by Dr. Mahtani are not paid for. However, they are yet to submit any document or proof that support this claim. On the other hand, Dr. Mahtani and his team have submitted ample evidence such as signed shareholder agreement proving his 58 percent shareholdings at the ZPC and independent auditor’s report proving the project of ZPC to be a joint venture with Dr. Mahtani and sole joint venture partner.

As per the judge handling this case hearing is closed for now which is something to cheer for, especially for Dr. Mahtani and team. Final judgment will be given soon.
