Media Fails To Identify The Misdirected Judgement From Lusaka High Court, Dr. Mahtani Approaches Court Of Appeal

The Zambian corporate media finally saw the reality associated with the Portland Cement Zambia case, one of the longest cases in the business career of Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani. On 31st January 2019, a public court proceeding was ended at the higher Court of Appeal where justice Mwinde after none months of case proceedings gave the final decision on the Portland Cement Zambia case. It should be noted here that the case was first registered at the Lusaka High Court where it went for more than a decade. Dr. Rajan Mahtani from his side had submitted all evidences and testimonials sufficient enough to prove his legal ownership over the factory. However, the final decision from Lusaka High Court which came in the year 2018 was extremely controversial. According to this decision, Ventriglias were given legal ownership over the factory. A major surprising fact during this time period was lack of media awareness of the actual situation. Majority of the media outlets just blatantly agreed with the decision of the Lusaka High Court without giving due consideration to the truth, facts and the evidences.

Despite the lack of support from media and the courts, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani did not give up and re-appealed to the higher Court of Appeal. The judge at the higher Court Of Appeal was justice Mwinde and he announced the final decision on the case on 31st January 2019, after evaluation of the submitted evidences and testimonials. It was announced that Dr. Rajan Mahtani paid one billion kwachas for covering 58 percent shares of Portland Cement which makes him the majority shareholder and actual owner of the Portland Cement Zambia factory.
