Dr. Rajan Mahtani Not Afraid To Challenge Court Decision, Appeals To Higher Court

It is true that the path towards righteousness is never easy. While people can easily win by illegal and unethical methods, these are just short-term strategies for achieving something. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is among the few businessmen left in Zambia who still follow this difficult path of truthfulness and honesty in all of his operations, irrespective of whether he receives support from government or his industry counterparts or not. As a result, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is stuck with the case of Portland Cement Zambia which has become one of the longest running corporate cases in Zambia.

The latest judge handling this case was Justice Nkonde and he gave positive news a few months back when announcing that the case hearing for the Portland Cement Zambia is closed and both sides were requested to submit their updated evidence, documents as well as testimonials in written and oral format before the judge. Based on this evidence, the judge was supposed to provide a final verdict. It was positive news for Dr. Rajan Mahtani as his evidence were much stronger and sufficient enough to prove his claim. The high court judge even commended the achievement of this long-pending case.

However, everything changed when the final verdict was announced. The judge announced the final verdict against Dr. Mahtani claim which was a shocking event. However, Dr. Mahtani and his lawyers have considered this judgment by the Lusaka High Court judge to be skewed and misdirected and has appealed to the higher court of Zambia against this judgment with reply awaited.

New Progress Has Been Announced Between The Ventriglias And Dr. Mahtani’s Case

Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a noted businessman and a respected individual in Zambia. Even after that, he is constantly targeted by conspirators and those who are jealous of his constant success and popularity.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the sole owner of Zambezi Portland Cement, the cement factory on which the case has been registered. This factory has been illegally captured by the Ventriglias. For the past nine years, while the Ventriglias have been constantly looting the factory, Dr. Mahtani is fighting the case to ownership of the bank at the Lusaka High Court. It is a known fact that under the leadership of Dr. Mahtani, the cement factory flourished with production far above the quota. The employees and workers were paid well for their hard work and the Zambezi Portland was among top employers of that region. All these changed after the factory was taken over by the Ventriglias. The factory assets are corroding and more than half of the workers have been either laid off or have stopped working due to non-payment of wages. Also, the cash box of the factory has been emptied by goons who allegedly work for the Ventriglias.

The current announcement from Lusaka HC has given hope to Dr. Mahtani as the case hearing is closed and final judgment of the case is expected soon.
